I’m attempting to determine if the charges for recent repairs to my 1986 900s are in the ball park of legitimacy or leaning more toward being “had”. A “Swedish auto specific” auto shop performed the job.
The initial reason for appointment: Replacement of new Hall Sensor & Ignition Distributor(I supplied both parts new $350.00). Initially, a friend who was familiar with this project and I, were to do the replacement. I opted to have the shop do the work after an initial attempt at the proceedure. The car was there for two weeks (the wires from the H.S. are haphazardly bound with electrician tape). It is running (on a 1-10 scale) at a 5 and please note the sub-heading worried me as well. From here on is the shop's own documentation followed by the SAAB Dealerships eval.

Replace battery (customer’s battery) & replace negative battery cable.
Technician” 3”
Check for sever coolant leak---Replace coolant drain assembly & plugs $ 272.00
on side of engine block (rotted out)---replaced both freeze plugs on side of engine
block ---refill system with coolant, pressure test & re-check (OK)
Check for cranks, but no start (after all work completed) $ 48.00
---Trace to failed fuel injection/fuel pump relay set
PARTS: 233.00
LABOR: 656.00
SUPPLIES: 25.00
SAAB Dealer 21 Point vehicle inspection after the above work was completed.
Concerns: L/T CV Driver $615.00, Dye Test $60.00, Diagnose rough idle $100.00,
Valve Cover Gskt. $ 155.00, P S Hoses $215.00
Correction: Inspect for leaks, CK Exhaust, tires, belts, hoses brakes, etc.
Comment: Coolant hoses swollen, seeping, $635.00, L/O & R/T CV Boots $ 405.00
Estimated time for repairs: (1) full day

Your opinion would ease my mind and please try not to ride the fence.
Thanks, T.K.
