Alternatively, you can get the OEM.
When it comes to the thermostat, I always buy the OEM. Saab thermostats have some funny tricks to them - the have three stages instead of the two you see in other thermostats, and have a hole necessary for bleeding. Now, there may be aftermarket thermostats that are similarly constructed, but I see no need to go out searching for them.
The cost difference between a Saab OEM thermostat and an aftermarket one is about $5. Considering that replacing it is a bit of a pain, I'll spend the extra $5 to do the job once, versus having to do the job twice if the aftermarket thermostat turns out not to be quite right. A failed thermostat can destroy an engine in very short order if it sticks closed.
Saab sells 82C thermostats. You can buy them from the dealer, or if you want to save money (and support this BB!), try some of the mail order places that advertise on the BB, like TheSaabSite or Sobstory.
Good luck!
