The hardest part is tightening the top nut on the shaft for the front shocks, especially on the driver side. The key is to buy a special socket that fits the "flatted oval" shaft. Lisle makes this socket, under $10. Then you can hold the nut stationary with a wrench and tighten the shock by turning the shaft.

If you can't get find the socket, the best way to get the nut on is with an impact wrench, which will spin the nut on without endlessly turning the shaft.
If you don't have access to the impact wrench, plan C is to replace the top nut(nyloc) with two standard nuts. Thread them on the shock several times before you install the shock so you can put them on very easily. Put the first one on with a deep socket and then snug the second one on as a lock nut.

Another trick to remove the front shocks: take off the bottom nut, and remove the bottom mount. Then break the top shaft by pushing/pulling back and forth on the shock with force. The mount on the body is very strong and you can easily snap the shaft with a half a dozen tugs. Then just reach down and remove the broken studtop mount from under the hood.(credit to Jim Moncrief at Sobstory)

Give all the studs and nuts a shot of penetrant the day before you tackle the job. This will solve the major difficulty with the rear nuts and the lower front nuts. If they are still frozen try heating with a propane torch.
