Clutch Noise....Throwout or Pilot Bearing?? Posted by Nickshu [Email] (#3765) [Profile/Gallery]

Hi Everyone,
I frequent the NG900 board (my NG900 seems to be less reliable than my c900), but have a problem with my 1993 900S that I need some help with.
My 93 has developed a whining/whurring noise when the clutch is depressed.
It seems it must be from the pilot bearing or the throwout bearing, but I'm not sure how to determine which it is. The clutch is in good shape otherwise, and I'm going to be selling it in early June so I'm reluctant to do the entire clutch, but just want to replace the noisy bearing.
Anyone know how I can determine which is producing the noise? Does the pilot bearing engage only when the clutch is depressed or all the time???
Thanks!
Nick
