Officer Julia, what I like most about the car is it's low milage and the overall very good condition. I bought an 82 non-turbo (in 1995) that had 175k miles on it and drove it for years without a problem and little to no maintenence. Closing in on 275k it began to develop a whole series of expected problems - master cylinders, wheel bearings, transmission whine, clutch. For the $1800 I paid for it I got a heck of a deal overall.

The other thing I like about your friend's potential purchase is that you drive a SAAB, have driven them over the years, and you no doubt have other friends and associates who also drive a SAAB. Your friend couldn't have a better source of information for whatever mechanical issue may come up. The other very good thing is that you know about this site and know where to look for info on problem issues, parts and service.

The only thing I have issue with is the price. Only with the car in mint condition, is the right color, has been kept in a garage, includes detailed service records, plus a talk with the regular mechanic, would I pay the premium price. The age alone is enough to lop off $1000 from the asking price. If she really wants it and the owner just won't go that low, and there are other interested parties, then $500 off the top price.
