in another, IMHO. The larger rear pinion bearing introduced with the 12 version in M89 was an improvement along with the hardened race in the tail of the countergear. But the latter forced changes to the reverse gears that make them condiderably more fragile. With the bigger synchronizers in M91 came a new selector shaft arrangement with it's own set of new problems. Personally, I like the M83-M88 boxes because there are more of them which results in easier access to used hard parts for rebuilding.
