Yes...after all that pain and agony. After taking out the kick panel, lower airflow assembly, etc., testing ALL the electrical connections, pulling apart the vacuum pump and sucking on all the vacuum lines, it was the easiest and most accessable part of all. That insignificant little plastic screw below that little red cap on the left fender. That little red cap some of us saw a million times and wondered "what the hell is that?". For some reason, the plastic 'allen' screw was backed all the way up...flush with the top of the housing. All I had to do was screw it back down. The cruise control holds at exactly the speed I set it at...to the KPH.
The townsend instructions had a single line that said "check the boost limiting switch...it should hold vacuum". Why would this thing hold vacuum I thought. Naw...I'll just test absolutely everthing else but. It too much trouble to pull the vacuum hose off and suck on it to test vacuum. What a DOPE!
Well...now after owning the car for two years, I have cruise control. Will I ever use it..not much, but hey...It works.
Thanks for all your help everyone. Happy cruise control troubleshooting.
