Search this board, I believe the PS can be disconnected. But first check your PS fluid reservoir to see if a crack has developed between the white/clear plastic and the black plastic that forms the mount bracket. It sometimes cracks there and then runs down the hose. Pull the bolts and take it off the body to look at it closely. Check the clamps and the clamp on the hose at the pump, it gets loose as the heat shrinks the rubber.
If you want to disconnect it pull the fan belt to the pump, don't let the pump spin without fluid in it.
Good luck getting parts on a holiday weekend. Ya gets the time to work on it but ya can't get the parts.
