It's hard to compare weights of wheels when everyone has different size tires that weigh differently and some same size tires weigh differently than others.
I have a set of 18x7.5 chrome rims w/ 225/40/18's that end up only weighing 2lbs more than a set of 15x5.5 manhole rims w/ 195/60/15 tires. Interesting eh. Well the difference between rims are about 5-6lbs.
But is weight that important when you pick up so much more in traction and responsiveness. I would definitely take a rim that's a little bit heavier if the rim is an inch and a half wider and can bump you wheel diameter up a little bit while still using reasonable side walls. It will effect your speedo reading and might reduce effective travel in the suspension (might be a problem w/ certain lowering springs) but it increases the overall speeds to lower RPM's(like bumping up to the next primary gear set). I'm not say 18x7.5 w/ 225/40 series is perfect and advisable but a 17x7 or 16x7 w/ 205/45 or 215/40 might be for performance.
