You can do a search about this -- some people love the caps some hate them. I don't like dash carpets so I had nothing to lose by trying the cap since the cracked dash was "unsightly" eye-sore. I winced everytime I would look at it.
I took my time putting it on. Spent a few hours at the park.
Used exacto-knives to trim around the VIN and 3 clips that you can see from the outside looking in -- inbetween the window and front part of the dash. Also couldn't get mine to fit well inbetween the outer right vent duct -- it was just too tight -- so I trimmed it and you'd never notice. As you know, the dash isn't the most precise thing in the world......I had to push, shove, and pry mine at times to get it on.
Roughed up the bottom of the cap w/ sandpaper and put the silicone gel on it -- held it down with those exercise sand-filled ankle weights (that pull your knees out of their sockets if you ever use them regularly), and some flat weights wrapped in rags.
The cap now fits very well except my weights didn't make contact w/ the area in front of the passenger speaker and window -- so it bows up a 1/2 cm at its highest point. I'm going to squeeze some more silicone in that space and put the weight on it to try to get it flat -- either way I'll be happy.
Time will tell if I remain so....but I feel optimistic.
