I'll make it brief even though the process wasn't....
I ended up going to the local rental place and grabbing 3 claps to compress the spring...That was the easy part. What was worse was that the lower ball joint was frozen in it's little holw and didn't want to budge..I tried removal forks, hammers, blowtorch and even stuck it in the freezer over night with no luck. So I ended up out at my bro's in Sterling with the whole rotor assembly on my back, riding the metro to East Falls Church to catch a ride with my sister-in-law. By now it's Sunday when I wander into his neighbor's big garage, stil hopeful I can get this taken care of and my SAAB reassembled before Monday morning when the trash truck threatens to crush my car which is immobile in the alley. He takes a look, turns on his air compressor and within 2 seconds, has (what's left of the ball joint) outta there. Back to the house where I compressed the spring withthe clamps, replaced the ball joints, put the rotor assempbly back on...and forgot to put the axel back in...ok, scooby doo, where are you? I need snacks. Since then, she's felt MUCH better cornering and driving in general. Got to admit, I was VERY worried about the spring. I threw in a spacer (rolls of quaters) before I began the operation, but the frame is bent below the control arm and they didn't hold like they did on the passenger side. It wasn't a total lack of foresight, but, man, I don't look forward to another problem like that. What should have been a 4 hour operation (tops) stretched out over 3 days in the 100 degree, code-red weather.

Now onto other little projects....
