Battery Warning Lite (RS? / anyone), keeping bulb in?

It's amazing what you learn when you have a problem!
As the last time in the car the battery warning lite didn't illuminate when ignition switched to the on position, i went back out and removed the speaker grill on top left of dash. Everytime i touch the back of the bulb the battery warning lite flickers... bad that it does this, good that i think this is the source of the problem (agree?)
As i'm not the most mechanically inclined, i twisted one way and then prayed that i didn't drop the bulb as it became loose. I twisted the other way to tighten and the warning lite illuminated and then went off as i "overtwisted" and the bulb became loose again, but "on the other side".
Can this bulb be removed by twisting in either direction? If not, any advice to make sure that the bulb stays in place. I'll try to get to a dealership to get a new bulb, but not 100% certain that will fix it as it appears that it's loose in its holder (maybe the diameter of the holder is too big?) Or am i wrong and this IS a problem that should be fixed with a new bulb? I'm assuming a new bulb will only be about $5 or so (woops, dealership= $10-15)
Also, any recommendation for an ez way to make sure the tube that transports the air from the defroster to the speaker grill line up properly when replacing the grill?
Thank you.
