I'm not sure what you mean by fine tuning the ride height. Center of gravity is one thing but having the proper clearance for daily driving is another.
I used the spacer w/ a homebrew spring we cut down to get the proper springrate. The spacers go on at the top of the spring, on the front of the car it goes on in between the spring and bump stop (kinda sandwiched). If you put the spacer above the bump stop, the spring and bump stop will slide out. In the end we actually used two homebrew 0.4" spacers in the front to raise the car almost an inch and one 0.4" in the rear b/c I got some cheap 33mm assymetric rims and they came w/ humungo tires 215/60's and 205/60's that were in perfect shape. So the lift was mainly to clear the tires b/c I didn't want to waste them. Months later the spacers are still holding up. The ride is great but has a little too much sway on corners the spring combo is 250/317 lb/in (actual rate).
