Yes, remove the spark plugs and squirt a *small* quantity of 10W30 oil into each. Then engage third gear, and rock the car back and forth a little bit so that you see the engine move a bit. This will confirm that nothing is seized up. I doubt if anything will be.
Good suggestion too about draining the gasoline in the car, replacing the fuel filter, and putting in some Techron cleaner. Note that you can drain the gas tank by removing the fuel filter, then bridging the two connectors under the fuel pump relay which will run the fuel pump. You'll need to find a wiring diagram to determine which, or you can just find it by trial and error. Put the fuel line into a gas can to catch the old gas, then run it in your lawn mower to get rid of it.
They are pretty tough cars, but take some time to make sure everything is okay and you'll benefit in the long run.
