Not really, my 176,000 mile 92 900S 5sp got an unsolicited verbal offer of $3,000 when it was in the shop for tires. Its a perfect body and all major components have been done in the last few years, engine has never been opened. Actually a non turbo may be safer at this age as they are not run as hard as the turbos and its one less thing to worry about.
If the car is clean and service records show periodic care and normal repairs for its age (CV joints, clutch, radiator, brakes, ball joints, motor mounts, alt bushings, etc) then I would not hesitate if it drives well - most of the repairs you would encounter have been done. If these all need to be done, its another story.
Mine is now a daily commuter of 55 miles one way at 65-75 mph, it seems to enjoy the workout and is giving 30 mpg to boot. Major issue at this age would be synchros and pinion bearing, if those are shot then you need at least $2,500 to fix. Pay a knowledgable indie check it out for you and of course, try to get the price down.
If older SPGs can go for $9,000 to $11,000...........
