Hi.
I was cruising up the I-5 LATE last night (I live in Portland, OR en route to Vancouver, BC) when all of a sudden I felt the car decelerate, then a second later I felt it come back, then 30 seconds later it did it again, but didn't come back. No matter how hard I pressed the pedal, I was decelerating and no more gas was getting to the engine. I even tried turning the cruise control on and pressing the accel button there in case it was actually my pedal switch as opposed to my fuel pump (or something?) nothing, just had to coast over to the shoulder.
couldn't restart it...it would crank, but not fire up. oddly, the battery light came on, but it couldn't be the battery since all the lights were full brightness (even during cranking), but that made me think it COULD be electrical, maybe a fuse, maybe a relay (i don't know anything about it).
So I had to call a 24-hour tow truck and currently my 1996 N/A 900s A/T with 140,000 trouble free miles is sitting at JP Auto in Mt. Vernon, WA. They said they do Saabs there but not til Monday.
So until then, I thought I could ask you guys: is it 90% likely it's the fuel pump?
and secondly: what is it gonna set me back? and/or any better suggestions for the mount vernon area?
Thanks for ANY help in advance.
Brian.
