On a '93, I would just keep my eyes on service records. The two things that are potentially the biggest and most common headaches are the ABS system and the engine block itself. The ABS is relatively primative, and really requires brake fluid flushes every two years. Failure to observe that service requirement can lead to expensive repairs. On a 900, you'll have the 2.1l engine in there, which is subject to deck erosion. Most of the time it is repairable, but not always. Regular coolant flushes, and execution of the proper TSBs (technical service bulletins) are really required to reduce or eliminate this little problem, so check for those. A compression check is, IMHO, mandatory when considering this year. Everything else is pretty much standard used car buying stuff...
