Cannot sleep up @ Alta; dunno 'bout the 'bird (but doubt that you can) or BCC. don't really care about the rest (sorry, i am an elitist snow snob ;-).
Alta hotels with parking lots have folks who check them during the night & kick you out - cars/license plates are all recorded at the front desk & night watch dude goes outside with big Maglites to look for foggy windows. cops patrol elsewhere. If you choose to sleep up at the Grizzly lot during a storm, you're potentially exposing yourself to slides - I know several people whose cars were destroyed @ Grizzly: packed full of snow, flipped upside down, pushed 100 feet. They looked like some kid's toys dumped in a snowy sandbox. (I also know some people who'd park their cars & leave them there deliberately, hoping a slide would take it out so they could get insurance $$.) If you wake up to bombing & you move yourself/your car during interlodge, they'll arrest you. Trust me, they don't mess around with avalanche danger up there. Of course, all of this is moot if you're going somewhere else.
As for the full size spare, old 99s (not be confused with the Old 97s ;-)had the vertical full-size spare configuration. They were set up flush against the side in the back left side, and there was a cutout in the flooring so they sat lower down. A rubber strap held it in place. May/may not be possible in a 900; got rid of a 99 in '95 so I don't remember exactly.
get a can of fix-a-flat and leave the spare @ home, or put your donut spare back under the floor.
As for sleeping in SAAB hatchbacks in general, both 99s and 900s are excellent cars to sleep in unless you are over 6' tall, at which point u can't really sleep lengthwise (actually, you can still do it, but only if u r alone & sleeping diagonally. reminds me of a phish song...). I have slept 30+ nights in numerous SAAB 99s & 900s, both solo & with others. more comfortable than some tents i've been in...
ski fast, take chances...
