jwr & KB's ideas would result in your battery dying all the time. You'd have to jump-start the car almost every day, finally after several months of this the battery doesn't take a charge. Is this how it goes?
If the battery is being overcharged, that could damage it over time while it doesn't keep going dead. Did the shops just check the battery or did you have them check your charging system?
Does your battery gets overheated or do you fill it with tap water (not distilled) or maybe mechanical damage? I saw a battery once (non-saab) that had the hold-down clamp too tight; the plastic case warped over time till it bent the plates... These are the kind of things that a check of the charging system can't spot.
