Got in the morning an appointment at the main Saab Dealer. Trailered the Saab to the workshop, I removed yesterday night the Cylinder head. Found there a (maybe the only one) reason for the overheating: blocked water- and oil ways. Due to excessive use of a hardening sealing compund for the head gasket job. Done at the Main Saab Dealer in Zurich, Switzerland. Bodger!!! Or should you use any sealing compound for the Head Gasket? I've never-ever used a sealing compound or similar changing a Head Gasket. Maybe needed for Saabs.
I cleaned the thin lines, checked again the head and decided the best for refitting the Head to the engine would be the Saab Workshop. I have no Workshop Manual with all the important figures for the tightening of the bolts.
After 5 hours the head and all other stuff was back. In that time I was the most unwanted person in the room. I joined all the labour that has taken place to my Saab.
Voila, the great moment for the Test drive: Saab isn't really running hot, the needle of the temp gauge is now between middle and the red line. Less than before. But still running very hot. Turned the heater 'off', Saab was badly overheating, the red bulb was on.
AND most strange effort: The exhaust gases won't clear, always white smoke from the tailpipe. Got a fine from the police. White smoke was there even the engine was beneath overheating.
My solution now: Discarding the engine and fit a brand new engine from the Saab dealer.
DO YOU have any other suggestions?
I still love the style and design of that ?&%$?='*°!t Saab
NOW I'm desperate.
BTW I didn't paid for the labour, nor for the parts at the Saab Main Dealer. Bodger!!!
