that has never ever used a torque wrench in their entire life.. he he.. to me head bolts are kinda tight but not too tight.. valve cover bolts due mainly to what they do and their small size are kinda "not very tight".. some really big nuts are kinda "very tight".. most other things are somewhere in between..
perhaps i should use one but i dont spose after all these years i ever will.. ???
if in doubt think of the spanner length that goes with the size nut u are tightening has always been my advise.. its that length fer a very good reason.. take those valve cover allen studs.. think of how long is a standard allen key.. course all this "feel" is totally lost with the average two foot long torque wrench..???.. also when working on old ally threads.. if they look a bit iffy has some of the ones on certain bits on my ancient saab do.. that feel is far more important than any torque reading.. and a two foot long torque wrench is the last tool to use for such things..
perhaps a modern mechanic never does learn this all important "feel".. sad really..
