it should be ok if you lay off the boost. If the valve has failed, intake pressure can enter the crankcase which could cause gaskets or seals to leak. I would remove it and cap the ends of each hose temporarily. Removing the hose and capping it as you describe will work too.
Surely, somewhere on this trip you would come across a Saab dealer or sponsor to get new one. I would think that a NAPA or somesuch could have something that would work temporarily as well.
