u can buy a tool for nipping it (squashing) to stop fluid coming out if u want to change a caliper or something.. straight forward squashing wont hurt them.. they are made to stand it.. quite tough they are unless they get cut.. mind u violent yanks or twistings might damage em.. so if in doubt replace em as u say.. and yep stopping is more important than going.. he he
they are nylon re-enforced rubber pipe covered in a woven metal layer to stop accidental cutting then another rubber layer to stop the metal rusting i think.. i have replaced a few over the years but have never actually known one fail in use.. ie.. burst.. i have known many rusty main steel brake lines fail thow thru rust pinholes or just snapping.. saabs might have rust-proof main lines thow.. i hope so cos i aint checked mine yet and 15 years is a long time.. its a pain in the arse replacing rusty brake pipes.. not something that gets mentioned much on the board so i am guessing the main lines are rust-proof.. he he
i have always thought it a bit of a scandal that most car makers just to save a few pence used ordinary steel brake lines.. hopefuly saab being saab used something a little more sensible..
