The Saab APC detects knock and backs off engine and turbo. What causes knock? Low octane fuel for one thing, and hot temps for another. Given the cold winter all of us are experiencing [except for JJ in Hawaii, that ba$tard ;-)~ ] are not going to have the hot problem. When I wondered where my red zone went, I coincidently changed back to 93 octane from 87. All of a sudden, by boost shot up to red zone. I felt like such a bonehead.

Is it possible you are running low octane?

Yes, lots here will tell you to look for leaks, etc..., and they are 100% correct. I am from the start from the bottom up crew. The bottom here is $hitty fuel causing knocks and pre-mature detonation.

Trog, read this and please tell us what you think. You are also a back to basics kinda guy.

P.S. - Just kidding JJ, you lucky man.
