I have no experience with this symptom on Saabs (nice, reliable brakes, so far!) but on the *other, Swedish car* I recently had, the sliding surfaces on the brake calipers and carrier were binding due to lack of lubrication. This made the calipers stick partially applied or fully applied or whenever they felt like it. The sickly smell of toasted/glazed/overheated brake pads and a shaking of the dashboard would sometimes accompany.
In summary: buy some anti-sieze compound or silicone-based brake lubricant (not just any grease that may not be able to handle the heat) and lubricate the sliding surfaces on your front brake calipers. If you can safely jack and support the car, you can accomplish this task. Remove the caliper sliding bolts, one at a time, and lube the inner surfaces where the caliper moves.
After this, you may need to replace glazed pads and/or warped rotors if the heat has really been allowed to build up. If your brake pedal pulsates when you step on the brakes, especially from speed, your rotors are most likely warped.
