Coolant System leak

Yes, I once again have a leak in my coolant system. The story is that a few months ago, I replaced the Heater Control Valve. Upon replacement, things were good for a few weeks. Then, the short hose that is used for the coolant to exit the engine block had a leak. Fixed it with a new hose. Then the upper radiator hose (engine side) sprung a leak at the brass valve that holds the A/C shutoff sensor. Fixed it. Then the gasket for the A/C shutoff sensor leaked. Fixed it.
Now, it appears that there is a new leak. I believe it is thermostat housing. It's that block of metal that holds the coolant bleed-off screw. Anyway, coolant appears to be coming out of the joint between the housing and the engine block. Is there a gasket in there? Would it be the thermostat itself? It doesn't seem like it's a difficult fix, whatever it is. Is there anything else in that area that could be causing it?
My basic impression is that the entire cooling system is "old". Whenever I fix a leak and the system repressurizes, something else springs a leak. Sooner or later, I'll have replaced all the pieces, and then it will stop.
