I just had my harmonic balancer replaced a month ago, and I don't have an A/C belt on the car anymore (haven't had A/C for 7 years now, so I removed the belt). Every once in a while, more so when the car is warming up, there is a "chirping" or "squealing" noise from under the hood. I was under the impression that the alternator belt CAN'T slip because it has teeth, so it would chirp. It might be the water pump belt, but it's a new belt and the SAAB dealer put it on. Are there any other belts? I've read on the board here about power steering belts, but I don't think my '88 900S has one. Does the power steering pump chirp if it is going bad? What else can squeal?
