Button-only (instead of knobs for volume) was standard on 86 and 87, later years switched to knobs. 87 stereos had other oddities (depending on trim--- 900, 900S, or turbo), with separate amp piggybacked onto equalizer in lower DIN slot. You would probably have to redo the wiring harness and get hold of the correct DIN cables to get a 93 headunit to work properly, but yes, it's do-able.
