master brake cylinder

'87 900, 180k brake problem. The brake peddle over the past two weeks got progressively softer, until it depressed without resistance several inches and finally required at least one additional pump to effect decent pressure. I pulled it tonight and the guts literally fell out with removal. I have rebuilt volvo and domestic cylinders in the past, but never had the piston try to remain with the output shaft of the booster. After cleaning the piston and body, I did notice slight scoring on the metal edges of the piston- could not really feel them, but they were clearly visible, especially with a glass. I cannot visually inspect the body well enough to judge the scoring in there. Is this a case for new replacement or purchasing the rebuild kit? It is winter, north of the 45th. Any comments on power bleeders, good, where to get, how much? What do I do about the old fluid in the lines? Thanks for any assistance.
