brake pad compatability

Accidentally bought an extra set of PBR pads for my old 1987 9000turbo. Will these fit on my current 1988 900S? If not I'll send them to anone interested for cost.
Assuming that I can't use them in my 900, what are the suggested pads to use? Have noticed that my brakes at present feel a little soft - My emergency brake doesn't work at all so I assume its only the front pads that are stopping my car. How expensive and effective are the braided steel brake lines? Could I pull junkyard calipers off of a 9000 and put them on my 900?
