like you mentioned, using these shifters does speed up the gear changes. IF you cram it into gear every time the trans will break however the same is true with a OEM shifter! Care MUST be taken when you shift because the facts are, these trans were designed for a 60 HP car & not the 200 to 500 HP motor people are doing. The accuracy & elimination of slop is why these are worth the $$$$.
That being said, I feel there are much better choices to the $160 kit however the price goes to $250. I have imported these shifters for several year (made of stainless steel, use ZERO OEM parts, imported from Sweden) which do pretty much the same thing however are just made of MUCH better materials. Unfortunantly, I have not been able to get any of the shifters for over a year now & I have given up on selling them. When I did have them John@saabsavior copied what I imported & he sold them for over $100 less then what I payed for them. John still produces them & I would HIGHLY suggest considering this version over the cheaper OEM style kits!
It IS worth the extra $$$!!!!
