Here's my story:
Today I noticed that I wasn't getting any air conditioning. My A/C is pretty weak because it needs a charge, but I can usually squeeze out some cold/cool air. "All the R12 is finally gone" I thought.
This evening, thankfully still in my driveway, I noticed that my cooling fans weren't activating even though the temp was getting higher. I punched the A/C switch to see if the fans were working. The driver's side fan worked, but not the other one.
Turned out that fuse #25 was bad. Put in a new fuse and both fans work. Punch the A/C and the fuse blows.
So I decide to lay off the A/C switch and save the diagnosis for another day. I get ready to take-off and then the battery light comes on. Why isn't my battery charging? I checked the connections and everything looked OK. I got back in the car to try it again and now the battery light doesn't even come on with the key switched, but does light up with the engine running. I got on saabnet and found out that there's a small green/white wire that was loose and refitting it to the spade connector gave me back the light, but it still wouldn't go away with the engine on.
If I rev the engine to 4K rpm, the light goes away. Sounds like the symptom I've read about for a bad VR.
Another post I read suggested that blowing the fan fuse may be a result of the fans & A/C compressor pulling more current than the regulator is supplying.
Also, fans don't run after the engine is off. They should. Not enough juice in battery because the alternator is slacking?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Chris 85t
