The drain plug has a strong magnet which is supposed to attract metal particles and keep them from floating around in the oil. If the oil has not been changed in a long time you might want to do another change after a few hundred miles to clean things out. Just take the car on a run to get the oil nice and hot, drain it out, and clean the metal filings off the drain plug.
As far as what oil to use, there's a lot of discussion and different opinions on that. Factory fill is 10W30 motor oil. I've used Redline MTL in the past with very good results. Honda MTL is the current favorite of many here, but there does not seem to be a lot of long-term experience with it yet. There was a Townsend tech article saying that they saw best results with Amsoil 20W50 racing oil. So pick your poison!
