I've the chance getting hands on a 1986 Convertible.

Nearly rustfree, only the bootlid has slight rust on the bottom edge. Nothing serious.

Hood is in bad shape, sliced and taped. Will need a new hood.

Greatest disadvantage: Drive train is missing! Saab had a big bang to the engine/transmission. A bigger stone was lying on the street...caused serve damage to the drivetrain.
Engine unit was removed and never been restored. Engine is missing.
There was a 8valve Turbo 5-speed manual unit in it.

Interior is good, three owners from new. Mileage around 99,000km. Standing since 1997.

Colour is dark blue with tan interior/leather.

Asking price € 4,500.00

Can you suggest if it's worthwhile buying the Saab and put a new engine in it?
Chance to swap to Automatic without the Turbo? I would prefer a Twin Carb engine, troublefree if there's something broken.... (Compare all the troubles about the cold starting of my 1982 Saab)
