I took one of the plastic ones that parts stores sell that has a bracket that I think is meant for hanging on the door. (As opposed to the kind with the fabric and stepped plastic that clicks into the window channel.)
I cut off part of the top "U" shaped portion so that it's just a cup holder with a straight piece sticking up. I then drilled the straight piece and mounted it to the passenger side of the center console using the existing torx screw. It's inserted between the console and the carpet so that the console won't be left scratched if I ever decide to remove it. Low tech but it works.

Not an especially handy location for drinking on the go but for me a cup holder is to more to keep my drink from spilling while I am driving from point A to point B. It's low and out of the way so I haven't had any problems with it being in the way of the passengers legs. One of the best things about this location is that in the event of a spill it will end up on your floormat as opposed to more important things (usually electronic) that are near many other locations.
