old ECU question Posted by JohnT [Email] (#1654) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JohnT) on Fri, 16 May 2003 08:44:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just swapped a '80 900T motor (8-valve B engine with the old style wastegate actuator and no APC) into my '80 99. It starts and runs pretty well but "stumbles" at steady speeds. It also backfires a bit when decelerating and seems to run rich. I think the problem is the ECU - I'm still using the one from the n/a engine. Here's my question: Should I just try to find an old stock turbo ECU or does anyone know if there is an upgrade available?
Other info: the car has new injectors, seals, plugs, wires, etc. and I can't find any vacuum leaks. New K&N air filter and turbo. Valves are properly adjusted and compression is ~110psi in all cylinders. I tried replacing the coil and ignition ECU. New complete exhaust with cat and 02 sensor. When run n/a, bypassing the turbo, it still does it.
Thanks for any ideas!
