If you're the type to do preventive maintenance and since you're doing work on the rear end, a new set of bearings wouldn't be a bad idea. I've got an 82T (225K miles) with the older style bearings where you replace just the bearing set and not the entire hub as in the later years. Just last month out of curiosity I pulled my rear wheels apart, removing the hubs from the axle. The bearings and bearing surfaces were in very good shape, despite the fact that the grease had become quite degraded. So I just cleaned up the old grease and repacked with new and put everything back together. Should be another 100K before I look at them again. Of course, anything is possible with these cars and I might be needing to replace the bearings next month.
