Hi.
Had a similar problem with my 86 900T 16V. Everything seemed OK, but it just wouldnt start. In my case, it was the rotor that was broken.
Give it a try.
To check, just take the middle wireing of the distributor cap, and put it about 1 cm or less from a grounded point of your engine. Have someone have a look if there is any spark while trying to start. If there is, I would check it again with a spark plug out instead, and if no spark, change distributor cap and rotor.
Good luck!
