Hey JG, thanks on the brake rattle fix advice Posted by andy [Email] (#759) [Profile/Gallery] (more from andy) on Sat, 28 Jun 2003 16:15:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thanks for your advice a while back on the rear brake rattle. I took a shot at mine today, the pad ends were either worn or designed too small for the carrier.
I used a medium zip tie around the lower part of the carrier to act as a pad between the steel backing of the pad and the carrier. Figure it was the least heated part of the system. Pads should be able to move laterally as intended, resting on the tie with no slack up or down.
Gap was maybe 5mm, enough to make a lot of noise. On one side it was the inner pad, so I pulled the pad and bent the spring tabs on back where it sets into the piston. On the other side it was the outer pad, again about 5mm of clearance.
So far it works on a test run. Thanks.
