My 92 900S 5 speed will occasionally stick and require a creep and roll effort to move it out of gear. Its been doing it occasionally for years. My gearbox does whine some and has been doing it for years, the weak spot is the pinion bearing, which may fail after 120-150,000. I don't mistreat the transmission so maybe I'm luckier than most. I would not assume the transmission is going south just yet.

I would suggest that you have a knowledgable indie replace the joints in the shift linkage as they can wear and fail, then align the shifter which is not a DIY job for most. Also, change the transmission oil or switch to Honda MTL (?, search board on this). Oil is cheaper than parts.
