jim,

expect to spend more money than you have thought before... I spent on my 1982 900i, LHD, 8V, Automatic now nearly GBP 3,000.00 only for to keep her on the street. (Two times head job, several hoses, radiator, brake parts (bending at the moment) and so on.) Bad cold startingt behavior. Changed a lot parts of the fuel injection. Probs still persiting...
Mileage is 112,000kms, I'm the second owner, always maintained at Main Saab Dealer Workshops. First owner was a sedate driving elder doctor. Was running in Luxembourg, Europe. No harsh driving opportuninties... Saab is in exccellent shape, no rust. Interior near mint, no crackz in the dashboard. New head lining. Leather seats. All electric gimmicks are working. Water thight.

Other Saab is a 1989 900 Turbo, Manual, RHD, 16V with troubles to the gearbox. Shifting the gears is hard, uncommon for me. Normally driving with Automatic or 4-speed Gearbox. Mini hasn't a 5-Speed gearbox...

Using at the moment the Daimler from my father, 1950 made with better fuel economy and much more reliable - thanks to the low tech of that period. If a carb is failing, the fixing is very easy!

I love the Style and the Design of the Saab 900 (Classic range). I own another Saab, 1986 Convertible. Sadly without the drivetrain. Not so easy finding the right one. Also one owner from new, rustfree and in like new condition. Fitted last month a new hood and cared for the interior and exterior. New tyres. New front and rear bumper, all chrometrim outside new. As there's no possibilty for driving - no problems. Very reliable - on display in my garage. Never missed a beat...
