It doesn't work that way. The parking pawl only locks Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Mon, 28 Jul 2003 20:38:59 In Reply to: Is the pawl strong enough?, peter charak, Mon, 28 Jul 2003 17:07:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
the wheel side of the transmission, not the engine side. If that would be the case, you wouldn't be able to start the car in park.
It is a hole in the engine "rear" cover (in the front of the car) right below starter. You can fit a 1/2" extension through that hole and snag one of the bolts from the converter. It's possible to stand on the driver side of the car, hold the extension in place and at the same time pull the breaker bar to loosen the crank pulley bolt.
Or you can try the starter trick on a auto too, and when it's time to tighten the bolt, you use the hole in the rear cover.
