It is not the thermo-time switch. The purpose of the switch is to time open or open based on engine temperature to kill the cold start injector function. Therefore pulling the plug off of it tells the tale to keep the cold injector from functioning when warm.
Your symptoms are of an over rich mixture. Not so much of a problem when cold since you need that extra gas during warm up. One of items to check is a sticky or stuck fuel distributor control pressure plunger. It lifts vertically into the center bottom of the fuel distributor and rides on that air intake flow sensor plate lever arm. The plunger movement is by natural gravity in its clearance tube. If it is sticky and does not come down completely onto the lift arm, the control pressure on the distributor will cause excessive enrichment. Factory manual calls for cleaning the plunger from time to time. Normally the fuel enrichment adjustment screw adjusts the height of the lever arm, which in turn move the plunger vertical height position. But if the plunger is gummed up and can not travel all the way down, the lever arm is probably touching nothing.
