Take a look at the Hall Effect connector on the side of the distributor and its cable. If it's loose it can pull down a little bit and disconnect when the front of the engine rises under heavy acceleration. I had the same problem on my '88 SPG, although that had a weaker connector on the side of the distributor. I fixed it using tiewraps to hold it to the distributor.
If it doesn't cut out when you wiggle the connector, take a look at the insulation right over the distributor for an indentation caused by the cap hitting it. That could be the cause, too.
If your front motor mount is broken the front of the engine rises a lot under acceleration.
