My first instinct would be to check the vacuum hoses. Sometimes I simply just replace them rather than looking for the leak as the leak itself could be very difficult to find. Also, it could be the vacuum pressure switch under the fuel filter. Another item is the cold start valve. This valve not only adds a burst of fuel during cold starting, but it rids the chamber of any potential vapor lock. This valve is set to add a quick burst of extra fuel when you attempt a hard acceleration. I do not recall which switch activates this, but I think it's a throttle switch on the throttle housing (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
If you have a Bentley manual there are a number of steps to go through in order to solve this problem. The most important thing is to start simple and cheap. Vacuum hoses are simple and cheap.
Another suggestion is to clean out the throttle housing thoroughly. Any crud on the throttle valve itself will cause some problems.
Lastly, a simple test is to pull out your injectors by unscrewing the hex bolt that is between each group of injectors. Put the injectors in a container that is safe for fuel. Then remove the rubber bellows from the air filter housing to the throttle housing. This will expose the air sensor plate. This plate has a small nut on top of it. With the fuel pump relay removed and a jumper in place use a pair of channel locks and pull up on the nut at the air flow sensor plate. This will allow fuel to be delivered to the injectors. Note the spray pattern They should all spray in a misting typ fashion. Bentley and Haynes manuals have good pictures of proper atomization and poor atomiztion. Make sure that you injectors have good atomiztion. If not, then the injector is dirty, clogged or bad (although, injectors rarley go bad).

I know this is long, but they're just a few quick ideas. I could be off base, but my impression is that it's the fuel system and not the ignition system, but the important thing to remember is that these two system work together. I can't imagine that if it's idling OK that anythink is wrong with the igition system though... Nonetheless, check you plug wires for proper connection and make sure they're in good condition. Replace if you have any doubts.

Good Luck.
