Cooling fan fuse keeps blowing Posted by NP [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have a 1989 900T (116,500 miles) and I recently (in the last couple of days) noticed that when in stop start traffic the temp gauge rises close to hot - and I have to pull over to cool things down. On investigation, the cooling fan fuse was blown. As it turns out, the fuse continues to blow after the first demand for the fans to come on ... the revs jump a little and then settle down - does this indicate that the fans tried to come on but blowing the fuse in the process? The fuse is always blown after this.
Any ideas?
Also, the first time that this happened (the only time that the temp was allowed to get to hot) the cooling fluid filled the reserve tank and then slowly cooled over about 15 minutes - the level dropped by about 15 mm. Then over a time frame of about 30 seconds - the tank was empty ... but there was no evidence of leakage or fluid dump onto the road. Where did it go?
Any ideas would be a great help ... many thanks.
Nick
