Man! A Roadrunner! Ooooo-weeee! I had a friend with a '68 Olds 442. A minor blip of the throttle would get me from 60 to 80 in no time. When your turbo is running right and you do some minor tweaking on the APC, your car will feel like a 442 at highway speeds. That's how it felt when I got my first SPG.
I remember carbs well. Rebuilding the 2-bbl on my friend's Mailbu convertible, the 4-bbl on my Studebaker, and the Weber on another friend's Fiat Spyder. Stinking of gas for days. Worrying whether I bent the float arm enough or too much. Wondering what that spare piece belonged
That and being able to look down in the engine compartment in my Datsun and see the ground. Those were neat days. There is definitely something to be said for the visible, mechanical ingenuity and logic that made those cars run.
But, after you've worked with your C900 for a while, you'll see how simple and straightforward it really is, especially when compared with newer cars. You're still undergoing culture shock :-) just hang around TSN for a while. We'll edjacatue ya' ;-) And it is good fun. It can be infurating sometimes, but it's usually good fun.
PS ... 91 octane is more than adequate. I'm running 89 octane on my SPG with no problems.
