Replace CV boot only if torn. If not torn the bad CV joint noise is a clicking when turning slowly and sharply. The boot kit is cheap but you have to slide the joint off the axle and getting the circlip to open requires some luck. Takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes depending on whether you hold your mouth right. That's why people just spent the $70 for a rebuilt axle, plus labor. Easy diy, good project for rookies to get some dirt under their nails.
Creaking noises are often sway bar or control arm bushings or loose mounting bolts(control arms, steering rack-rarely). You can give the bushings a shot of soapy water to temporarily stop the noise. A silicone spray will last longer, while effects on rubber are the subject of endless debate. I wouldn't worry about it, but I would do them one at a time to find the creaker. Be sure to inspect the lower control arms for fine vertical cracks near the inner mounting points. Replace immediately if cracked to avoid inconvenient failure.
Bad ball joints are common, but they usually clunk or click over bumps. Same for bad shock bushings.
