Thanks everyone. This is one of the reasons I really like coming here, great advice and people that are more than willing to help/share ideas/give advice.

My neighbor was/is a mechanic, has done so for the past 20 years (oddly enough, he moved into tech and now works for me at HP...long story about a divorce and the loss of his shop because of it. But, good for me because mechanics make great tech types - EXCELLENT problem solvers and follow deductive reasoning to the letter). Anyhoo, he FINALLY got back from a business trip today, and the first thing I had him do when he walked through my door this morning to say 'hi' is...take the car out for a test drive :) He's gone for about 15/20 minutes, and the first thing he says when he comes back through the door and tosses the keys on my desk - bad steering rack. So, I found one online today for $159 and got it ordered. I should have it Tuesday/Wednesday of next week. So, if that's not what it is...we'll look at something. I'll post my progress once I get everything I ordered - and get it put together.
