As noted by cutic and Simon S. a likely cause for your window problem is the switch and/or motor. Another likely cause is the window regulator itself. I had this problem too on my 1987 900 S 2-door. Just as an aside, it seems that 2-door window regulators do this more then the 4 door window regulators... not really sure why. Anyhow, getting back to the subject at hand, I tried another motor and cleaned the switch also. But it didn't do one thing. So, I took the window regulator (with the motor still attached) out (again... ya... happy times!!) and put the window regulator in a vice on my work bench in my garage. Having detached the electric motor from the window regulator, I proceeded to spray a penetrating oil on all the pivotal points on the one side of the regulator and started working it up and down to simulate the actual motion of the regulator while working in the car. Having done the pivital points on the one side of the regulator, I sprayed the other side's pivital points as well. Again, I worked the regulator up and down to loosen it up. I did this a few more times (both sides) to get the regulator nice and loose. Just before taking it out of the vice on my bench, I put some multi-purpose greese in the tracks where the wheels spin. Having completed this procedure, my power windows have worked like a champ for the last year now!!
If I were you, I would first take out the regulator and loosen it up as I did. If it still doesn't work, then look for a new motor. Although I am not there to see your problem, I sincerely believe your window regulator needs a bit of TLC... that's all!
